Kids are Amazing

So after Leah and Scott came back from sledding my dad stopped by and we finished laying the rest for the tile in the kitchen. Yippee! We just need to grout, put some toe molding in and of course I have to paint again since the color I just had to have last year no longer works with the floors but we're well on our way. While the fridge has been back in its rightful place for a week now....as of last night, it no longer works. Nothing like throwing away a whole fridge and freezer full of food. It's not even 7 years old so hopefully it an easy/cheap fix.

Amazingly Tyler slept through all the commotion but when he did wake up, he looked like he had been hit by a truck. His face was swollen and his beautiful big blue eyes were hidden under tons for goop. Scott mentioned that his hands were piping hot. I was certain he had a temp again but was curious how high it was. 104.2! 104.2! 104.2! Oh my! Give me a heart attack! I've never seen a number that high before. I striped him down to his diaper, gave him some Tylenol and called the Dr. In the time it took the on-call Dr to return my call, he was drinking, eating, talking and playing. Are you kidding me! My temp hits 101 and I'm done for. This kid has a temp of 104 and he's smiling and laughing at his sister. He's just so good natured I can't believe how lucky I am. I love that little man more then words could describe. Here he is....I think we were down to about 103 by this point. It's just amazing what their little bodies can put them through and they just bounce right back.

Fun in the Snow

Leah went sledding for the 1st time today. It was a beautiful sunny day and finally the wind chill was tolerable so Scott took her over to Cain Park. Unfortunately I missed out on the fun, staying home while Tyler napped but I sent him off with the camera and orders to take pictures and video so I could see and hear how much fun she had. She loved it! I've been told there were snow angels too.

It's back

Not really sure what to make of this but Tyler had a fever again tonight (102.2). Normally I wouldn't sweat it...kids get sick....alot! He had been doing so well and just finished his antibiotic for pneumonia. Hmmm? He has his 2 week follow up Friday. Guess there's a reason they have you bring them back in. Oh the joys of motherhood.

Progress!

See the things I can get done when I'm not sitting in front of the computer all night?

We're about 1/2 done tiling the kitchen floor. OK so yes the kitchen project started when I was pregnant with Leah and yes it's still a work in progress, but I've learned home ownership is a work in progress. Can I just remind you of what we started with and where we've been?

I know you're disappointed I don't have any pics of the avocado green appliances.

Now if only we can get the fridge back in it's rightful place again, cooking dinner for 2 tots would be so much more fun. Who am I kidding? It doesn't matter how nice my kitchen is, cooking will never be fun.

L - E - A - H....such beautiful letters

We hit another milestone in our house this week. Leah can write her name! I have no idea if this is early, late or right on time but none the less it's a wonderful milestone to reach. She's been spelling her name verbally for quite some time but it hadn't really occurred to me that she might be able to write it. One night after dinner I was looking at all the valentines she had received from her classmates and I was impressed with the number that had been written by the child rather then the parent. So I asked Leah if she would like to be able to write her name like that too. With in 10 minutes we officially had a writer on our hands. She's a bit obsessed now but they are the 4 prettiest letters I've seen in quite some time so who could blame her?

Cruel and Unusual

Only Tyler could make sick look cute. He's so good natured. I think he may actually like the nebulizer. Although he seems to think I need to use it too. I must admit Scott and I have used bottles and Binkies as a huge crutch. We're were almost done with the bottles but when you have a sick kid that won't eat anything you do what you gotta do.

He's doing great and is back at day-care and had 3 molars pop through today! Can you imagine being sick and having that going on too? Leah started coughing the other day and ran a slight fever yesterday so we're keeping a close eye on her and hoping what ever this bug is doesn't knock her out quite as much as it did Tyler. I originally thought I had given T my cold but I now think I had something else and he was kind enough to bring something new home to share. So yes I'm now on to my 3rd illness since Christmas. Who's the wise guy that planned Year-end reporting during flu season anyways! I honestly can't complain. It could have been much worse and we really truely are blessed.

In other news. Leah has discovered French kissing! EEK! Where does a 3.5 year old see/learn these things? Certainly not from us (sorry Scott) but Seriously!? I'm really weirded out by this new milestone. I think I preferred when she learned to spit on the ground.

Ohhh! as for the "cruel and unusual"...you might think I was referring to the nebulizer but actually I was referring to his shirt. Yes some of you may recall that same shirt from when he was 8 weeks old....Yes 8 weeks!

Is that a testiment to what a big baby he was or how much he's growth has slowed down? More likely it's just a testiment to how cheap I am. I'll admit it's too small for him and I promise I will retire it as soon as it comes out of the wash.

Bringing New Meaning to "Relaxing Bath"

I suppose I should have known something wasn't right when I picked Tyler up from Kindercare on Wednesday night. He was falling asleep on one of the teachers. He just started at Kindercare last week and suddenly was forced to give up his second nap so I thought maybe it was just catching up with him. When he fell asleep in his highchair at dinner I thought maybe I'd just put him straight to bed but he was filthy and in dire need of a bath. So I figured if nothing the bath would wake him up a little and then I'd get him dressed for bed and put him down once his hair dried. Well he literally fell asleep in the tub. When he toppled over and barely opened an eye while he was under water I knew something was wrong. I scooped him up, wrapped a towel around him and took his temp. The whole while he barely bothered to open his eyes to figure out where he was. The only time I have ever seen a child act so catatonic was when Leah was 4 months old and we spent a week in the hospital. His temp was only 100.3 and his breathing and color seemed fine so I dressed him and put him down for the night. Of course I called my mom and sister to get a few motherly second opinions. All agreed as long as his temp was below 102 we should just let him sleep and reevaluate in the morning. Thursday he slept nearly all day and his fever climbed to 101 but for the few hours he was awake he was pleasant and really enjoying his broom. When his fever hit 102 this morning I had Scott call the Dr. The poor thing seems to have inherited my cruddy lungs. He has pneumonia! I'm sure you can imagine the motherly guilty I have since I didn't take him in yesterday. With his reflux and chronic croupy cough I never can tell how sick he truly is. When I hear him wheezing, I take him in and they tell me it's in his upper air ways and nothing to worry about. Guess that wasn't the case this time around.

The poor thing is on more drugs then I think can fit into a 14 month old.
